Audi key technology changes by model, generation and equipment
Audi equipment lists show keyless features such as Advanced Key or Convenience Key on certain models and packs rather than universally. That means two cars with the same model name can behave differently at the door handle and during starting. We therefore avoid assuming that every A3, A4 or Q5 uses the same access system and use the vehicle details to narrow down the correct key.
1Remote/transponder Audi keys
Earlier and mid-generation cars combine a mechanical blade or emergency key with electronic locking and immobiliser authorisation.
2Advanced / Convenience Key
Selected Audi models use proximity-based keyless access, so detection range and vehicle specification become part of diagnosis.
3Connected ownership & myAudi
Newer Audis add digital ownership/account layers such as key-user setup. These are separate from the physical key but relevant when understanding the wider access ecosystem.
